JANUS 4.0 delivers improved core software and direct interfacing to third-party fire systems such as Simplex 4100U.

A new module, Event Relay, allows JANUS to control and command other third-party systems such as:

New functionality in the standard core software :-
  • Event Relay (lite)
    • Event Relay (lite) is included with JANUS core software version 4.0
    • It has a limit of 1 x "Target Device" and 10 x "Event Actions"
    • Not all protocol commands are supported in the lite version
  • Report/Guard Screen & Graphics
    • View fire and security events on the same JANUS Report/Guard Screen
    • Graphical icons display addressable detector heads and break-glass / pull handle units, including healthy, alarm and trouble status
    • The JANUS Fire Centre provides a two-way protocol that monitors and controls some of the Fire Panel functions (dependant upon fire panel functionality)
    • One to many or many to one fire panels / JANUS guard stations
    • Common activity log within JANUS allows fire and security events to be reviewed together in historical reporting
  • Log On Dialogues
    • Now works with multiple monitor setups
  • Database Update
    • Cards can be nominated as having 'Extended Unlock' properties which attract extended unlock times at nominated readers/doors
    • Cards can be nominated as being an 'Escorted' card
    • Readers can be nominated as having an Extended Unlock Time which when unlocked by an Extended Unlock card, doubles the default or preset unlock period
    • Readers can be nominated as being an Escorted Reader which when processed by an Escorted card, will require a Host card to validate the Host attendance
  • Report Generator
    • Time filter now accepts both 12 and 24 hour format
    • Updated history report so that the Event/Alarm Message is shown
  • Database Independent
    • JANUS 4.0 can optionally employ an MS SQL database as both primary and/or historical database

Improvements to existing optional modules :-
  • Card Production
    • Added support to "Enforce Padding"
  • SQLExec
    • Now able to modify primary key fields e.g. Surname (Cards & Users), First Name (Cards & Users), Title (Cards & Users), Emp Number (Cards & Users), Issue (Cards only)
    • Additional error reporting when non-compatible databases are encountered
    • Rebuilt against an import library that permits more characters into cards comments fields
    • Hidden facility for re-importing JANUS tables thus allowing user defined pins to be imported
    • Rebuilt against an import library that handles updates to cards that already have a PIN, but is not supplied in the query
  • JANUS Pictures
    • New menu option allows Pictures to always stay on top
  • Guard Tour
    • "Point Overdue" is now sent as an acknowledgeable alarm to the Report/Guard Screen

Brand new optional modules :-
    • Event Relay directs JANUS events to control and command third-party systems such as:-
